The income thresholds you must meet

- Overall resources of at least 70% of the gross annual SMIC.
- At least 51% of your counted income must come from your acting activity.
- For a salaried engagement, a contract averaging at least 1,236.84 EUR gross per month over a minimum of three months.
The 51% rule is decisive for actors because the profession is intermittent by nature. Long gaps between roles are normal, and many actors fill them with unrelated work. That is fine for survival, but if waiting tables, temping or an office job is the majority of your income across the reference period, the file does not meet the test. Salaried vs independent: which model fits an actor
Salaried is the common route: theatre, film and television roles are almost always contracted as fixed-term salaried engagements, and pay slips plus contracts do most of the evidential work. Independent can fit actors who invoice for voice work, self-produced performance or certain commercial engagements. Credits and reviews strengthen a file, but the income and contract evidence is what determines eligibility. A strong showreel with little qualifying income will not carry the case on its own.
