The Two Systems, Side by Side
| France — Carte Talent | UK — Global Talent | |
|---|---|---|
| Assessment logic | Single documentary dossier judged against category criteria (contract, diploma, resources, project) | Two stages: endorsement by an expert body (e.g. Arts Council England, Tech Nation), then the visa |
| Who decides | Consulate / prefecture | Endorsing body, then the Home Office |
| Permit length | Up to 4 years, renewable | 1 to 5 years per grant, flexible |
| Family | Talent-famille: own multi-year permits, no reunification queue | Dependant visas alongside the main applicant |
| Settlement horizon | Carte de résident possible after 5 years of residence | ILR after 3 years (Exceptional Talent; digital tech both tracks) or 5 years (arts Exceptional Promise) |
| Language of life | French environment; most categories have no formal language test | English environment |
| Work flexibility | Tied to the category activity (employment, project, practice) | Unrestricted: employment, freelance, own company, any mix |

Who Should Look at France First
- Profiles anchored in a contract or project: France rewards a concrete French anchor — an employer, an incubator, an investment — more than accumulated fame.
- Founders at an early stage: the French Tech Visa accepts projects before incorporation; the UK route assesses what you have already built.
- Families optimising for Europe: an EU base, talent-famille and Schengen mobility.
Who Should Look at the UK First
- Recognition-led careers: artists, writers and performers with press, exhibitions and awards — the endorsement model is built for exactly that evidence.
- Those valuing work freedom: Global Talent has no employer, category or activity restriction at all.
- Faster settlement: three years to ILR for Exceptional Talent against France's five.

One Portfolio, Two Doors
Here is what most agencies will not tell you: the underlying asset is the same. Exhibitions, publications, press coverage, professional memberships and reference letters power a UK endorsement file and a French profession artistique or project dossier. When we produce a case — often over 12 to 24 months of real artistic or professional output — we build it jurisdiction-neutral, then frame it for the door you choose first. If the first application meets a refusal, the portfolio is not lost: it is reframed.
We run UK Global Talent casework at globaltalentvisa.org and French casework here, with a licensed French avocat performing the regulated work.
How We Work — and Who Does What
What we do
Profile and eligibility assessment, category strategy, evidence curation, business narrative for founders, dossier assembly and coaching. We prepare the strongest possible case before anything is filed.
What the avocat does
We are not a French law firm. All legally significant acts in France — regulated advice, filings, representation before prefectures — are performed by a licensed French avocat (member of the bar) we work with as one team. The avocat's work is already included in our package prices.
Our honesty pledge
We are not affiliated with the French government. Consulates and prefectures decide — approval can never be guaranteed, and we never promise it. We assess every profile before taking it on, and we say no when the chances are weak.

FAQ
Can I apply to both France and the UK?
Yes, and the applications are independent — neither country sees or cares about the other file. The efficient sequence is to file first where your evidence is strongest, since the same portfolio, reframed, serves both.
Does a UK endorsement help my French dossier?
Not formally — French authorities apply their own criteria. In practice the same recognition that earned the endorsement (press, exhibitions, contracts) is exactly what a French artistic or project dossier is built from.
Which is cheaper overall?
Government fees differ by route and family size, and both change periodically, so we quote them per case from the official schedules current on your filing date rather than publishing numbers that go stale.
